I am an adopted adult, and so is my wife. Please do everything in your power to unite these children with their adoptive families as soon as possible. Early intervention is critical for their long-term adjustment.
Please make this happen -- the sooner the better for these children's current comfort, their future development and their attachment to their adoptive families.
I am mother to a child adopted from Vietnam in 2006. What these children and families have had to go through is emotionally horrific. Please help these children and the families that are waiting for them!
The first three years of life are critical to a child's development. These children are already in the hearts of loving, dedicated families; they deserve to be in the arms and homes of those same loving families. It's time to bring them home without further delay.
Five years ago I received The Angels in Adoption Award in which Secretary of State Clinton spoke. She gave a compelling speech and offered her continued support to all adoptive families. I am the mother of four adopted girls and two biological boys. I can not stress enough the importance of bringing home these children now. My children were all over the age of four when they were adopted and all have needed extra support to succeed. Time is can not be wasted. Please help these families come together.
I am a member of an Adoption Advocacy organization, Kidsave, who works to help the hardest to place children, those older the age of six. I have come to think from the work I do that while it is not the blanketly "right" choice to have international adoption, when it is the only choice to find a family for a child, international adoption can save child's life and a child's future.
These parents have a hole in their family every day the child is not home with them - please help to unite these children with the families who love them.
We can do better than this can't we? Do something NOW. The children are at risk for medical problems and developmental delays. The longer they wait, the more money it will cost the parents and our government.
We have adopted children and grandchildren and I cannot imagine the angish these families are feeling, wondering if they will ever be able to bring their children home. They are in our prayers.
The continued assault on international adoption needs to be re-assessed. We should encourage adoption and not be shutting it down via the DOS and UNICEF.
My sweet lovable beautiful granddaughter was adopted from Viet Nam three yers ago--she was seven months old--it was heartbreaking to see this little baby covered in scabies and how she had learned to scratch areas that she couldn't reach--like her back. She would scoot her back back and forth against her sheet in an attempt to get some relief. Please, please don't play the "it's not our fault" game while these precious suffer. DO SOMETHING to bring them to the U. S. and the people who love them.
For heaven's sake - get these kids to people who will care for them and love them before their current living conditions make the health so bad they will never have a quality life.
