I am in utter awe that this is recommended against by the CDC. This infection is so prevalent and has such a high transmission rate, it is imperative that testing be recommended among other routine STI testing. I have never even been offered the test by any physician I have seen. This is an urgent issue. Please petition for this to be included in routine STI screening!

Given the link between HIV and HSV, the devastating effects HSV can have physically/mentally, and the increasingly accurate/available testing technology (such as BioKit), the CDC should update their HSV policy. HSV testing needs to be included in a conventional STD panel.

Many people think that when they go for a testing they are receiving this as a test, and therefore think they are clear of herpes when in fact they may have been infected. Had many of these people known they had the virus, they would work to help stop the spread.

I find it reprehensible that the CDC is not fulfilling its mission with regards to HSV. The longer that HSV screening (such as BioKit for HSV2) is not included in a full STD screen, the more lives will be permanently affected by this insidious disease.
