Although not comparable to AIDS and cancer, this disease causes severe emotional and physical distress. For those who don't display symptoms, they may pass it on to their children which can cause death. Please help us out, we can try to live normally but we're suffering.

For me, HSV-2 has been painful physically, and devastating psychologically. My dating life is over. Did it also contribute to recurring infections and inflammations, and losing a tooth shortly after my first outbreak? Is it responsible for my developing ADHD? No one knows or cares.

So please measure the impact of herpes compared with other factors on dating attitudes and mental health. Please educate people and eradicate the stigma. If people are no longer socially shunned for having HIV, why is herpes still such a taboo? Millions of men are spreading the disease, at the same time as they are rejecting and insulting women with HSV because their clean STD report did not include herpes. People who have not personally felt the disease collectively reproduce nothing but fear, ignorance and prejudice. It has to stop.
I don't know how bad this might be, but twenty years ago my doctor told me I had 'Herpes Simplex'. He said not to worry about it and that was the last I ever heard about it.
There really is no reason we have not already found a cure for this other than no one is really putting forth much efforts in that area of research....let's change that!
