Petition to designate Taps as our National Song of Remembrance HR 6034

We, the undersigned citizens of the United States, willfully petition the United States Congressional membership to take action on House Resolution 6034 that allows for the designation of the bugle call "Taps" as our "National Song of Remembrance."

Much like "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "The Stars and Stripes Forever," which were born from the winds of war, "Taps" shares a similar history. Following the Seven Days Battle in July 1862, General Daniel Butterfield and bugler Oliver Norton created "Taps" as a way to signal the end of day.

It has now become the signature musical farewell for uniformed personnel who have faithfully served our nation during times of war and peace. Over its 150-year history, "Taps" has been woven into our nation's historical fabric and is revered by many as a national treasure. At each playing, deep emotions arise in those who listen to those twenty-four solemn notes; emotions of loss, pride, honor and respect.

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that our Congress take action on HR 6034 to elevate this simple bugle call to the same status as that shared by our National Anthem and National March. This distinction will ensure and signify that those for whom "Taps" is sounded receive the honor and respect of a nation they so proudly served.

I thought Taps was the national song of Remembrance what better way to remember and honor our soldiers here and abroad
As former USMC Feild Music I have experienceed how taps as hit the harts of all.
Taps is rendered thousands upon thousands of times a year, to honor and remember the countless men and women that have given the ultimate sacrifice to our great nation. An official title would be appropriate.
Live performance of Taps is a fitting tune for military and veterans who served the USA honorably; as a Final Salute for a grateful nation.
I believe most Americans understand that the playing of TAPS by a bugler at a funeral or a public ceremony is done so to honor service men and women who have passed away, many while actively serving their country.
Let's make it a Nationally recognized "Song of Remembrance"
this must pass,it is for all our men an women that have given their
full mesure.
This is something I think Every RED BLOODED AMERICAN has grown up to know, it should BE Our National Song Of Remembrance. With the wars we are fighting, the least we can do for our brave Men & Women Serving, and those that have.. I plan on having this played when my 90 year old Father passes, least that this COUNTRY can PROVIDE TO A SERVICE MEMBER.

This is not asking too much of our COUNTRY IS IT?
