I was refused assistance buy all the agencies that recieved federal money for assistance with housing repairs because "Excessive Damage" I am disabled and very low income. Where did all the funds go when less then a dozen houses were repaired the during the first round ?
The problem in this country is with Republicans, who do not represent the people, and are only interested in protecting tax credits and loopholes for the wealthy and big corporations. Their obstruction to pass legislation that would improve the economy and increase job growth is appalling, and treasonous. House Republicans should be recalled and ousted from office. Please also check out and sign this petition to make a pledge to vote out all Republicans and the Tea Party 2012. Thank you. http://www.petition2congress.com/5269/vote-out-all-members-tea-party-republicans-in-2012/
PLEASE EXTEND BLOCK GRANT - I'VE WAITED 2 YEARS AND NCI AND UNITED WAY SAID UNLESS EXTENDED, THEY CANNOT HELP ME.
There is still much need for Hurricane Ike recovery in Galveston County.
There is still much need in Galveston County to complete recovery efforts. There are waiting lists at agencies of people that have not been helped yet.
We support the extension of this grant - so many people are waiting for additional educational classes and other services as they continue to be effected by the events associated with Hurricane Ike.
"Please urgently support passage of SB 3774".
We now have effective local service delivery soon to be interrupted by lack of time to use funds.
We now have effective local service delivery soon to be interrupted by lack of time to use funds.
As a participant in the disaster ecovery process, it has been crucial to judiciously screen applicants, and provide appropriate swervices; this is more time consuming than serving every applicant without verification of needs.
I am on the board of the Galveston County Food Bank. Our programs were extremely important following hurricane Ike. SSBG funding has been a godsend for us to continue / expand our services to the needy in our county. The problem is that they were not immediately available and a two year program has been condensed into less than one year. The extension will allow our mission to continue.
Thanks
I presently have 16 clients on my case load that are still in need of case management and are applicants for the grant funding under the Galveston County Housing Assistance Program and each are in need of extensive primary dwelling repairs due to Hurricane Ike. Since the money is already allocated, we should continue our efforts to assiting these individuals and fellow citizens in helping each reach self-sufficieny.
PLEASE, URGENTLY SUPPORT PASSAGE OF SB 3774.
THE MONEY WAS ALLOCATED FOR THIS PURPOSE AND STILL COMPLETELY UNUSED DUE TO THE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE FROM THE CITIZENS.NOT UNTIL WE OFFERED THE SERVICES IS THAT THEY COME TO HAVE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE AVAILABLE SOURCES.
COME TO THE GULF AREA AND VISIT KEMAH,TEXAS CITY,GALVESTON ETC. AND MAKE YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT.
Please urgently support passage of SB 3774.
Please support Senate Bill 3774 the process of recovery, while underway, is still ongoing especially for our seniors.
Extension of the SSBG funds for Hurricane Ike victims is critical and I urge you to vote in favor of this extension. We are not asking for more money, but only for more time to spend the funds already allocated. The people of Galveston County need these funds. Please help.
Please urgently support passage of SB 3774
Please give us the additional time we need to use these funds to rebuild our community, just as other areas have had in the past. We are working so hard, but we need your help!
Please!
Please consider the funds we appropriated for two years, unfortunately, the first year of funding was already gone when the funding was approved.
It is reasonable to have expected that the 2008 Disaster Relief SSBG funding would have been through September 30, 2011 rather then September 30, 2010. If this were the case the legislation extension would not be needed at this time.
All we are seeking is the extension of time to finish the race that we began where many were able to leave the starting blocks in January - March of 2010 thus the race is in the back stretch and we pray you will find the wisdom to see us to the finish line in 2012 as proposed in Senate ill 3774 for all Americans affected in the 2008 disasters.
I live in the path of the 2008 Hurricane Ike and can attest to the fact that people have applied and not been funded yet. They need the help!
We will work hard to do our part.
Please urgently support passage of SB 3774 and give us much needed money to continue our recovery.
We continue daily in our struggles to rebuild our island and would greatly appreciate an extension as these funds are desperately needed in our region. Thank you for your consideration.
Please urge the Senate to immediately pass SB 3774 and move to immediate House approval before September 30th. We need these funds!
Please support this important project...we are doing great work but are not done yet!
I am a case manager for Grace Community Services, and I have been so busy trying to take care of my clients, and forgot about my own needs. I live in Galveston and had over 4ft of water in my home. I need repairs that I can not afford to make myself.
Please support the extension of SSBG funding for the Houston Galveston area. Our area needs more time.
This is the only help some of us have in rebuilding our homes and family..
This program is crucial to the success of many students in the greater Houston area. Please extend this program!!!
Please extend the current counselling programs since many Hurricane Ike victims still need the emotional support and encouragement.
Please extend current counselling programs -- many of us still need support & assistance. Thanks
