DrugTest those on Public Assistance

I live in a small town of Circleville Ohio and I see first hand what people do for drugs. In Circleville we have a low crime rate but drugs is a problem in our community as well as many others. I am starting this petition to stop the drug problem and to help save our Tax dollars. If we give a drug test to those who recieve assistance then we can control and prevent many problems. Those who are working have random drug test why should this matter be different for those who recieve assistance?

With the tough economic times there are more and more people getting assistance and I feel that we should be able to help those who really are in need. Around 98,000 Ohioans that are jobless and stand to lose their unemployment benefits will likely turn to food stamps and other public assistance programs for help, officials say.Total persons participating in the Food and Nutrition Services Benefits(FNS) during May 2010 increased to 1,619,992 by 8,461 or 0.5% from 1,611,531 persons reported in April 2010. Households increased by 5,080 or 0.7% over April 2010 levels. Also,For the month of May 2010, OWF-Combined assistance groups totaled 98,846; recipients totaled 225,689 and money payments totaled $37,015,111. For OWF- Regular (OWF-R) there were 90,784 assistance groups; 194,321 recipients, and $33,063,851 in money payments issued for May 2010.

The reason I feel so strong on this issue is I see everyday that our tax dollars go to low income families and yet the children are still hungry. The reason this is happening is because the parents are selling the food assistance for drugs instead of feeding their children. I feel Public assistance is a great program for many people who feel traped but not to abuse. If you feel as strong as I do on this issue to help those who actually need help and to stop those who abuse the help then sign this petition to start the drug tests and save our tax dollars.

I firmly believe that if you my tax money you should be able to be drug free at all times. Should be subject to a random monthly drug test. They will have an hour to come and present a cup of urine under close supervision
