It's a rotten shame how this country treats their seniors you have got away with it for to long and lied to your people taking from your seniors is a rotten thing to do I really don't know how some people sleep at night.your punishment should be to walk in our shoes and go without.
Start a petition to freeze Congress' cost of living increases,limit their pensions and health benefits if their total family income exceeds $250,000 a year.
I am a 66 year old mail I have Congestive Hart Failure and copd, Coronary Artery Disease, Coronary Artery Bypass. I take twenty prescriptions a day since I’ve been on extra help for past two years I was able to by my medication this year I lost the extra help And now my copay is 300% I’d take a least twenty medications a day when I ordered nine of my medication The it was over a thousand dollars I cannot afford that what this is doing to me the same me to my grave and spend more time in Hospital I am not the only senior who is having this problem and I’m not know the the only one Who can’t afford it what do we do, do we plan for a funeral.
In the past two years I’ve been in the hospital ten times and intimated five times and almost died twice.

With gas at $3.00 a gallon, food prices up, utilities up. You can't tell me that the cost of living is not up. Let's cut the saleries and perks of the law makers to compensate for the hit the seniors are taking.
They took away my SSI because they stated I made too much money! I paid to much money for college no one said anything about that! I did not ask to become ill did I? Look, it's simple folks, let's not talk about what congress person is on vacation, who is eating what etc., let's do something now! start here; start now; right in your own community! if you know someone who is cheating the system or you suspect is cheating the system, do something about it. Contact your local SSA Departments, Contact your local Welfare Offices, Don't say they won't do anything about it! They are starting to listen now!! They are indeed asking. So don't be afraid to tell. You are doing the right thing by doing this here first! So, lets get the ball rolling fight to stop fraud get your money back! Better yet get congress to listen, and get your money back! Congress doesn't know what struggling is. They couldn't even make it on what I get. I'm a disabled person under age 40. I live on a lousy $800.00 per month in New Jersey. One of the most expensive states in the country. I worked for many years before being disabled, sometime 12-15 hours a day and I have nothing to show for it. My check covers rent and some utilities and nothing else. No extras. It barely covers food. I have to pay everything on this minute check I do not have cable or any other luxuries. I was just blessed with a car, but can't even afford any needed repairs or the high price of gas. Everything has gone up. I need sneakers and some new clothes and can't even have that. I've been wearing the same clothes for years. While they have lobster with drawn butter and vacation on tropical islands, I have to penny pinch just to be able to wash my clothes or purchase a quart of milk. They vote themselves raises, but are sure quick to vote us out of a increase in our checks. We need help. What don't they understand about that? Thanks for nothing
For many seniors, this COLA only helps to pay for increases in the Medicare insurance premiums. Others it's the only way to barley survive from month 2 month. They have no 401K to depend Or they decide to buy medicine or buy food while in the dough-nut hole? Food 1 month - medicine the next - a vicious cycle. Veterans are caught in the same trap because the meds keep going up. People think they are free. They aren't. Now the Debt Commission wants to charge Vets a Co-Pay for each Visit to the VA. OUTRAGEOUS. Each G.I. served their country for & continues 2 do for lower wages than private sector jobs & now when they require medical needs, wham---slap them w/fees......,.
How can congress or the president say that the cost of living hasn't went up enough to give a COLA? Do they ever shop at Walmart, Foodlion, Kroger's? They get a raise every year and vote it in to boot! Yes, they need to think about how it is to live with one person in a marriage without health ins. and all the taxes we have to pay, utilities going up, price of gasoline going up and just about everything else. Where did they get their information? God help them.
You guys must be joking. A revolution is surely brewing. Don't come to my farm wanting help when those times are upon us. You will find out who your true friends are at that point. My father,grandfather,uncles, etc fought in the true great wars of this country and this is how you guys show appreciation for these now elderly guys. You truly have yellow streaks down your backs. They have little to nothing to survive on while you guys support your families with lavish bmw's, room serivce paid by us taxpayers and maids. I certainly hope I never get a chance to meet you guys in person.
Millions of seniors and other thinking citizens want Congress to live by the same rules that we have to: No pension for them, no cost of living raise, no elite medical plan, etc. etc. I hope you all get voted out.
I am ashamed of my country and how we are treating senior citizens. It is important to the President that they not be on their death bed wondering how to pay medical bills, but apparently he doesn't care what quality of life they have on their way to those final days. went to get my insulin today(8-08-10) it had gone up 5 dollars to $50.00 a vial. i can not afford this. but if i do not take my insulin i will die. me and my husband live on a meger 1200 per month disability. how are we supposed to live on this????? inflation has run amuck. we need prices to go back to at least the late 80's or so. then we mite have a chance to at least survive. we that are on set incomes are screwed from the getgo. my husband was declared disabilited over two years ago. we just got him on disability a year ago. with out help from our local dss office and christain mins. i have no idea how we wuld have made it so far. we need ALL the help we can get.
I think it's a shame when you all are giving checks to substance abusers call it a disease (when actually it's was a choice)& you won't help seniors & the disabled(esp those who have paid into the system)afford to live ! You are paying for THEIR drugs & not to make them better, but supplying their habit & helping them to continue to use !!!
We really need our COLA. It should have never been eliminated this year in the first place."THEY" may think cost of living has not gone up, but they should try living on the monthly amounts we do, and then rethink their decisions again. "They" wouldn't be able to do it for even one month !
