There are no good reasons for not having this program already. What are we waiting for? Every 80 minutes we lose another vet or service member to suicide. When will enough be enough?
It took my more than half of my life to understand that my father a WW2 vet who served for five years on the battlefront in Europe was suffering severely from PTSD. It affected our whole family and still does even though he is long gone. His mind would go black and he couldn't think whenever he was under stress. He was highly intelligent and had a soul that wouldn't hurt a fly. His life and in many ways ours were tormented by his war experience. I am not a liberal nor a democrat, but these soldiers deserve the best medical care the country has to offer. They shouldn't have to beg for it, or be left not knowing what is wrong with them. Shame on the US for not taking care of the military. We have the best medical care available in the world and these people should have it at their disposal.
As an American and a heath care professional, I believe this program would be extremely beneficial to the men & women who risk their lives to protect ours. Counseling & overall support for our troops shouldn't even be a question or up for debate. After all they give for us they deserve nothing less than all from our government. It's ludicrous and completely irresponsible for our so called leaders to not recognize the need to care for these heroes. I fully support any and all programs that benefit the ongoing treatment & monitoring of our troops. Who wouldn't need mental heath services after seeing the horrors of war? My thoughts any prayers go out to all who truly have served this country and done their all to provide me with a sence of security. Thank you all & God bless you & your families!
I'm a Marine mom. The least our nation can do is to fully meet the needs of our troops who are effected mentally and physically from the effects of wars that went send them into.
Stop ignoring the problem. There are no excuses worthy of the number of service men and women who are now missing in action due to the numerous traumas inflicted on them through their military service.
I am finally getting the help I needed 45 years ago and it was almost too late. It's about time someone stepped up and helped the men and women who fought for this great country. The lack of help is an outrage to the vets of the USA.
A program like this should have been in place over 10 years ago. The problems we are having within the Veteran population could have been vastly reduced or addressed more easily if this had been in place. I am a Service Disabled Veteran.
This is the least we could do for these people. It's not asking too much of us to demand that they get mental health care before they come out of the service.
I truly believe in the three step program. Please make this program mandatory for our veteran's, they deserve to be taken care of! God Bless Our Veteran's!
