Please extend the Emergency Unemployment Compensation program. Mine will expire very soon and I do not know how I will support my family after that. The "Jobless Recovery" will stop dead in it's tracks when a coupe hundred thousand people in Florida can't buy food and pay the rent.
I am on unemployment in Florida but do to the lose of my job I had to relocate to Rhode island.I have revived my first 26 weeks and was cut off on uly 10 ,as I was just starting to recover a little.I am also trying to go back to school and my job search go's on.bills don't stop coming in and I have no way to pay these bills to live.Now um wating for a letter in the mail to tell me if I'm eligible for ed or euc ,I guess. I call Florida unemployment office and it seems they can never give me any answers ,just wait for a letter in the mail....but the only letters I get is bills. they can't even tell me if I'm eligible or not. I don't understand don't I pay in to this. Did the people before me work any harder. Then why do these laws and eligiblity dates keep changing. I have never had this hard of time finding a job in my life. I need help
I am currently 57 years old and have worked for 32 years. Due to Hurricane Katrina, employment has been sporadic at best. I did work in NJ for 1 1/2 yrs and was then laid off. That was on May 7, 2009. I have applied for over 150 different jobs and have had interviews but no job offers. My husband, who was injured on the job, was subsequently laid off. Having worked for a non-profit agency who was not required to pay into the unemployment benefits program, he does not qualify for unemployment. He has not worked since October 1, 2009. The only source of our income has been my unemployment compensation and I am about to exhaust Tier 3 benefits thru the state of NJ. As many US citizens, I am about to have no income at all due to your decision to discontinue extended benefits. What are you thinking? Do you not realize that people of my age will not be eligible for public assistance? How do you decide that it is okay for millions of US citizens to live out on the streets with no source of income? With the current level of unemployment in this country, why do you think it is okay to simply cut off my and millions of others' only means to have housing, food and the ability to pay for simple household expenses. Has anyone considered that the rising crime rate can be directly attributed to people losing their unemployment benefits? Do none of you realize that public assistance benefits will also dramatically rise? Are any of you who have decided to stop the funding process considering your ability to be re-elected? I'd rather be spending my active days making sure you are NOT re-elected. How would you feel if you were unable to obtain employment, especially if you are an older citizen in this country? You are effectively eliminating the middle class! Congratulations, well done!!!
I wonder what you would do in order to pay your bills and feed your kids when you are at wits end trying to find employment. But I guess this wouldn't happen to you - so you don't care. PLEASE CARE!
I have applied for over 50 jobs since I was laid off. The typical response (if any )from a prospective employer is "we had 5000 applications for 50 jobs. Is this a recession or a depression ?
Tier I elig date was 5/29, I had 275.00 remaining. Apparently this means I do not qualify for Tier ii extension and now have NO SAFETY NET, no source of paying rent and no job prospect in sight. I am all alone. This is a very dark day.
Why our state refused additional weeks leaves me baffled. We have one of the highest rates of unemployment in the nation. Currently we can only get a max of 79 weeks when the Feds have provided funding for 99. This is crazy!
I have worked since I was 16. I served in the U.S. Navy. I have been out of steady work for 2 years. I have been on unemployment for11 months of those 2 years. I am trying the best I can. I have sent out numerous resumes over the past year, still nothing to show for it except that I know I have done my best. Please help out your fellow Americans.
Unemployed for 6 months and told today that I would not get any more unemployment benefits. How am I to live with NO income...I have lost my job, lost my insurance, lost my credit standing and next will be car, home and life? There are very FEW JOBS out there and too many competing for them. Our government can give relief via our tax $$$ to other countries but not to our citizens. No wonder crime is getting so high.
I have worked 2 and 3 jobs almost all of my life, even while I was having a baby, in college, and only recently have had to depend on UEI. I am slightly handicapped as a result of a brutal crime, and now the recession has taken way my ability to contribute to society while maintaining myself. I have a master's degree, and I am versatile in many business aspects as well, but I am LIVING IN MY CAR, driving from place to place to find work, yet nothing materializes. I will be dead without the unemployment insurance as I need medications that will disappear when I have no income to see a physician and purchase the prescriptions. Is that what Congress wants? To kill people? It is unreasonable to bail out corporations who issue bonuses over a million dollars to upper echelon employees yet deny $1008 a month to workers. It is unreasonable and obscene.
Establish eligibility in all states and elsewhere for Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Tier I, Tier II, Tier III and Tier IV
