As an educator for 50+ years, Itruly believe thatthe 'Rights of the Child' speak to the future of our Mother Earth.
Eleanor Roosevelt would be shocked and saddened. What have we become?
It is dismaying that our country is not a signatory but considering all the human rights violations perpetrated by our government and the tyrannical leaders it supports abroad it is not a surprise.
a teacher now and always for the respect, dignity and rights of children
Time to do this is now!
It's important that we protect the rights of children in this world. We need to do more for them. This is at least a step in the right direction.
It's about time the US joins the rest of the civilized world and by ratifying the CRC! The opposition is a bunch of radical anti-world loonies.
To be the only nation not to recognize the human rights of children is an incredible embarrassment to the United States.
The Convention does protect parents' rights to raise their children, contrary to what opponents say.

p.s. It's "ratification", not "radification".
Senate please give the okay so President Obama can sign the treaty. Being one of only two nations should be an embarrassment to our government. You place yourselves in agreeance with Somalia by not signing this treaty. Lets join the world in unity and declare that children are equally respected by rights that should be given freely to them.
No healthy kids, no healthy future...It appears to be that simple.
