No More Politics As Usual - Stop Disrespecting Americans

The floors of government belong to the American public, and when Congressmen and Congresswomen stand on these floors and tell lies or distort the truth, they are disrespecting the citizens who sent them to Congress to represent them.

Respect is a two-way street. The citizens of this country will not have faith in the integrity of members of Congress to fairly represent them, as long as members of Congress use the floors of government to lie and distort the truth.

The signatories to this petition ask that Congress enact new rules at the beginning of the next Congressional session and those sessions to follow that lying or distorting the truth on the floors of Congress is disrespectful to the voters and those rules will include exceptional monetary penalties for those who disrespect the voters by engaging in this activity.

When we hold our politicians to "thou shalt not tell a lie," we will be taking a very big step toward democracy and away from partisanship.

When you take money from lobbyists to defeat Healthcare, when you trim the budget on the backs of working people, when you conssider taking away social security, but never once talk about the cost of wars and homelandinsecurity, when you take no stand on torture and agreeto apppointments of known crooks to the cabinet, then I must tell you you have lost all respect I have for our elected (bought) politicians.
This is a good step. Can we find a way to stop hypocrisy too?
This is not a request it is an order. Maybe a petition in the street would be heard? Maybe this would bring together Progressives and rank and file Teabaggers. Wouldn't that curl your incumbent toes.
Fine them 25% of their Congressional pay for each infraction.
