i must approve that....
This program MUST be kept alive. It's vital to our country and to us as members of the human race. Space exploration is a means for pushing technology and society forward, and as a super power on Earth, the United States can NOT cease to have access to space. PLEASE SAVE PROJECT CONSTELLATION
So many scientic and medical advances have been made by our space program! Continue to fund this program, and help us to help the future of all humankind!
What we had with Project Constellation, was the most ambitious plan for human exploration in the history of man kind. After more than 40 years of empty promises since we last went to the moon, we had finally begun to lay the foundations for our return to the cosmos. We had begun to develop a rocket called Ares V, which would have been the most powerful vehicle ever created, able to lift the wight of somthing like the ISS in a single launch. I fear now that we will spend the next 40 years hearing things like " we plan to bla, bla, bla within 20 years"
This program is important to our nation. Please, don't cancel a symbol of national pride. I believe we can achieve great things. We should not give up on something we begin just because its to hard. When things are difficult we have always overcome obstacles. Constellation is a test of our resolve to achieve. Americans never quit we reach for the stars and make our dreams come true.
By continuing the Constellation Program, we are investing money, not spending it. There's a big difference.
Yea Constellation is a step backwards, but its SOMETHING, we need a new frontier. by killing Constellation, you will kill a chance to cause a new 'golden age' in American science and technology. It's an old design, yes. BUT WE KNOW IT WILL WORK. it's something at least. The people need something to look at and say, 'hey we're still top dog, we're still at the forefront of this.' Now china will get a lead on us....i won't stand for a bunch of human rights violators setting the standard for future space exploration and colonization, we need boots in the dust up there. there's a difference between sending robots and people...a big difference. No one glorifys robots as much as we have glorified the Apollo astronauts. For the love of god, DON'T KILL IT!
We can not be without a manned space program, it will cost more to pay the russians to fly us than to just keep going with constallation. Please vote to keep the program alive, so that my niece (8) and Nephew (6) can get excited about a launch into space as we did when we were kids
It makes me sick to think that we may have a 5 year or more gap without a manned spaceflight program. Congress: DO SOMETHING INSTEAD OF BICKERING. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO FUND THE PROGRAM THEN KEEP THE SHUTTLE FLYING AND BUILD NEW ONES!!!
Stop the cancellation of Americaa's future as a space faring nation of explorers! Please vote for the nobility of exploration and science. Please do not turn America into the Portugal of the 21st century. Vote to save Constellation!
Obama promised to give NASA what it needed to make the Constellation Program a success...
As one congressman said YOU LIE!!!
nasa-national aeuronautics and space administration. what about this says anything about watching the weather? we have others to do this
Ending manned space flight by ending the Constellation Program is insane! Asking private industry to build heavy lift manned boosters is like asking a small boatyard to build an ocean going cruise ship!
I believe that we should not rely on any other country to shuttle our astronauts into space, and the private sector cannot do what our government can. America cannot be left behind as china moves foward.
Constellation is our key to becoming a world power once again. We as American citizens need the economical boost that Constellation will provide to our country. Where will the funds go if this vital program is cancelled? Bailing out banks? We need Constellation more than useless bailouts.
Cancelling Constellation doesn't solve ANYTHING. You think that the money will be better used elsewhere? What about technology, research, discovery, innovation, inspiration? Not to mention the countless jobs, families and companies that will be effected or lost? This cannot be allowed to happen.
At a time when America needs a vision for the furure, a vision which embraces our heritage as a nation of explorers, the cancelation of Constelation is outragious. To abandone space to the Rusians, China and any number of other nations is not an option.
Lets not continue to go in circles every 4-8 years. Please continue the bipartisan support for the Constellation program.
FYI, the Earth will NOT support life forever! The small steps we make today, will insure our species will survive well into the future. Not to mention all of the scientific benefits that come with the Manned Space Program. WAKE UP WASHINGTON!!! And Mr. Obama, fire your scientific advisors because "they DON'T have a CLUE!!!"
Nasa is the only government agency that gives back.
The best place for human spaceflight as it NASA, private industry can play a role and that is good, but NASA has the proven track record to succeed and deliver in challenging times. The goals of the Constellation program must be preserved to take America beyond low earth orbit, back to the moon and beyond. The civilizations that explored and pioneereed, determined the course of human history. That is true today. Our nation exists because of it.
Please restore funding to Constellation.
For multiple reasons, the U.S. is and should remain the leader in space exploration. Shutting down Constellation is not the right direction, and there are some things that should not belong solely in the hands of the private sector.
This "cancellation" is being done for short-sighted and narcissistic political reasons, and Americans DO NOT support this action according to recent polls. This is a transparent attempt to destroy the whole concept of AMERICAN manned space flight with AMERICAN vehicles and AMERICAN technology. Those who support this action at their core believe that space flight in the future should be internationalist and NOT benefit America and Americans. Their Pollyanna kum-ba-yah feel-good "PC" philosophy will cost thousands of American jobs over the next 5 years. Children will lose their dreams of America as a space-faring nation. When the last Apollo moonwalker has passed on, there will be no one left who has left Earth to actually GO anywhere except to fly around in circles watching insects multiply in microgravity or other such dubious "research" projects.

Save Constellation and help America LEAD the world into space... again.
Constellation is holding NASA down! Drop Constellation and help develop the mass production of space flight hardware so we can launch crews 4 times a week instead of only 4 times a year! Support Private Industry!
Every single item of technology we currently enjoy can be traced to a point of origin within our space program in general and to NASA in particular. Losing sight of this and destroying our existing aeronautical infrastructure will result in our having to pay other countries and/or companies for the right to use their technological advances. This myoptic nearsightedness will throw us into an irreversible technological tailspin that will have irrevocable impact on our economical stand in the world. PLEASE save our space program for our future generations.
The queen of Spain has now told Christopher Columbus that she will not allow him to build any more ships...
I completely agree!
Washington is INSANE to think of this when China is about to make moon flights at the end of the shuttle program. What kind of inspiration will it be to have the flags of an oppressive, military government unfurled across the moon???? Tell Washington, STOP THE SLAUGHTER, RESTORE THE VISION!!!!
To say that we need more technical jobs and people with a similar background take away the ultimate outlet for their expertise makes no sense whatsoever. Also to assume that private companies have the capacity to continue on with the Constellation program who lack the overall experience that NASA does is ludicrous.
I left working an important NASA program the last time a Democratic Administration took power and that was a much smaller astrophysics research program. Now again we have a Democratic Administration who seems to think that "we don't need any of that science stuff." Do they realize the impact that the materials, propulsion, avionics, and life support research that NASA conducts for our way of life.

Sadly, we are becoming a service society with no real value added to the world economy. We complain that our youth are not interested in math and science any longer and that other nations are leading us in breakthrough scientific developments--yet we continue to close avenues that would expand, embrace and exploit this wasted brain power of our youth.

Yes we can wait for industry to take the ball and run with it. But as we have seen in the dot-com bust of the '90s the investors of today are not interested in decade long research projects. When industry gets involved there is only a nose for profits--as we see from the human genome project. There research has been drastically hampered by the patents now placed on genes and protein molecules. I don't even own my own DNA?

President Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Regan and others have led us into areas of scientific discovery that have changed the world. Apparently President Obama would rather blame his predecessors for the state of the country he inherited and buy windmill parts from foreign companies with economic stimulus money, rather than making long term investments in our national brain trust and scientific leadership.
Constellation is essential for our space program, which provides hundreds of thousands of technical Jobs.A place for excellence to be proudly exhibited in our society.
America need the Jobs.
The idea that Constellation can be replaced for less cost and in a timely fashion by companies that have not proven they can launch a pin into space is absurd. These same companies are behind schedule and over budget in the programs they already have from NASA to re-supply the International Space Station. President Obama’s budget proposal sets aside an extra $300 million dollars to try to cover their lack of progress. To add the future of human space exploration to the weight these small inexperienced companies are already carrying is a certain path to the end of human exploration of space for the foreseeable future.
Constellation does NOT need cancellation -- only ALTERATION. Stop the huge, costly Ares 1 & V developments and go to a more sensible, sustainable, affordable launcher design that can do a true, 2x launch mission architecture: $50 billion or more can be shaved off Constellation costs with virtually no loss of jobs at NASA and its contractors!! A more sensible inline or even side-mounted Shuttle derived launcher will do. Even augmented Delta 4-Heavy & Atlas V launchers can do the job: the Augustine Commission and many advisors said so. If someone tells different - they are wrong or worse. The important thing is the MISSION -- but there ARE ways to save costs.
We need this as Americans!
The Constellation program is important and it will indeed work very well. I am well versed in such matters.
