If you worked hard for your home and did things the right way and happen to fall on hard times, Welfare will tell you to sell that home before they give you assistance. Your home may be anywhere in value from 40k to 80k. However they have no problem giving food stamps etc to those who have drug habits that reach this amount or better a year and have no problem giving the dealers who deal the drugs Welfare assistance either. I had a young man driving a 30,000 chevy something or another buying his 20oz pops with Food Stamps. I worked two jobs at the time and this boy had a wad of money on him that made both my paychecks look feeble in comparison. Why does he have a food stamp card? I am neither Democrat or Republican in this, it is commonsense that American tax dollars should not be funding drug users or dealers.
Why aren't they doing this in the first place?!?!?!?
Every J-O-B I have ever had, I have had to pass a drug test (with no complaints), and thats the way it should be. Why wouldn't one have to pass a drug test to receive money that the taxpayer had to pass a drug test in order to pay into the system in the first place?!?!
If this doesnt pass, we should rename the Welfare system to "Nation Meth Fund", that way the name better represents what most of our tax dollars are paying for in the public aide fund...
Anytime a person applies for a job. He or she has to get a drug test before they will be hired. Getting government benefits should be based on being drug free. Something is seriously wrong with our system of government.
Setting aside all the stereotypes, this is the right thing to do. By providing unemployment benefits to substance abusers we are subsidizing the drug industry. Our tax dollars going to criminal manufacturers, distributors and users of drugs. Seriously how could anyone not be in favor of this?
In 2005 I was pregnant and lost my job. I was on state assisted insurance and WIC for 6 months until I was able to return to work full time and get off state assistance. That is what welfare is for...temporary help for those you are in need. I witnessed attrociace situations while in line at my local welfare office...pregnant mothers walksing in with 4-5-6 children in two who were carrying orange soda and bags of potato chips. I personally knew of people taking advantage of illegal immigration and Section 8 Housing, while never having a job. It is time something is done about this situation in our country!
I am disappointed that this has been going on as long as it has I struggle and people on assistance sit back and get a free ride drug and alcohol test them all
I know people in MA that are abusing this system, while my husband and I are killing ourselves just to pay the mortgage. It's not right, I don't want to pay to these abusers! I'd rather to give to charity of my liking!
I believe that you should start random testing on all of those who receive both food stamps and welfare. There are so many people out there that are abusing the system that receive both welfare and food stamps and do nothing but stay at home all day and do nothing. I know countless people who try to sell their food stamps to get money so they can either buy beer are drugs. It is not fare that those we applies for work have to be testing but those who receive free money and food money has to do nothing but sit back and wait for their free money to come in each month. Please start drug testing soon, before it gets to late and our country becomes "BROKE"

Please start drug testing all of those who receives welfare and food stamps like Florida. I believe our country well be in a better state finically if we stop spendly countless hundreds of thousands of dollars on welfare when we can use the money for better things for our country.

I would like to add to this petition that ALL recipients of Federal and/or state money should be drug tested to include every employee of every branch of government (including the President and Congress), every teacher at a school that accepts Federal or state money, and everyone else that works at any business that receives said money. If any law maker was to actually oppose this idea, maybe we should drug test that person immediately to see why they would oppose such a rational and reasonable request. After all, many employers require drug tests, so shouldn't our tax money be kept drug free from the bottom to the top and back down again? Besides, I do not want illegal drug users running this country. Lets alter this petition a bit to include drug testing our own government shall we?
Today i see way too many Federal aid recipents abusing taxpayers money, buying illegal substances and using the money for bad use. This should have been brought up a while ago and it should start today.
Require drug testing for recipients of all State and Federal Assistance Programs.
