this is an outrage
what has become of the american way competition With the leadership in washington we are being force into a Goverment control socialize country and control we the people have a right to change and a right to chose not to be told this is the only choice
I support keeping the FFEL programs as an option to our schools. Our school is a Direct Loan program but I do believe that competition is the American way. If we are to switch totally to the Direct Loan program there should be ample time allotted for schools to make the conversion and for the government to put the details into play as to not affect the schools who are already involved in the program. The overload on the processors would be enormous and affect us all. Please consider my request.
This will be another poorly run Federal take-over. Students have had no voice but will be impacted more than anyone else. Keep the best of both programs and everyone wins!!!!
Requiring 4500 colleges/universities to change over to one government ran program by Juliy 1, 2010 will result in massive disruption to the school's processing & the borrower's experience. Your Missouri constituants want CHOICE and COMPETITION in the Federal Student Loan Program!
It is time for our Senators, no matter what their party affliation, to do what is right for Missouri Students. The current bill will hurt a large segment of MO students, not help.
Regulator AND provider? Where is consumer rights?
We should have the right to choose our own lender.
Your choice: Government lending or Government lending??
Hmmm, let me think???

Monopoly "in"...Customer Service "out!!"
I do not believe our government should be in the loan business when we have private businesses that employ American citizen's and puts food on our tables. This consistent nit-picking of every industry and putting thousands of people out of work is adding up.
I have worked in the student loan business for 24 years and have seen many changes-good and bad. Borrowers need to be able to choose their lender just like they choose their school and other options during their college life.
I have been in the student financial aid profession for 32 years and have experienced both the FFEL and Direct Loan programs. FFELP provides choice and quality services to students, parents, and postsecondary institutions which I believe are not provided under the Federal Direct Loan Program.
