I was under the impression that everyone would receive a one time payment of $250.00 the beginning of the 2011 year. Will this come to fruition? Obviously not! We need our checks to stay afloat, not just drown. People have paid money into this account all their lives, yet their is not pot of gold at the end of our rainbow. What gives? One has to "PAY" for the Medicare Ins. and this just leaves less money to pay their living expenses. Tragic, just tragic that the elderly and the little people suffer while the rich just get richer!!!!!!
I thought that there was an automatic rasie every year since 1975 when the bill was past,why have you decided to go back on your promise that we will automaticaly receive our raises.

The senate and the house raise their wages every year, but we the people who put you in office suffer. Wake up, stop senting money overseas to buy friends and allies and start spenting it where it belongs. I didn't work all those years in order to support terrorist.

I think it's immoral to see no cost of living increase in Social Security benefits. I also see it as discrimination in the highest degree against seniors, the disabled, and the poor. The prices of almost everything in the grocery stores continues to rise along with the price of oil, people are hurting trying to just get by as it is. If anything if they want to put another freeze of cost of living increase then it should only be done to the wealthy in the upper income bracket who wouldn't be hurt by it and only raise the Medicare premiums on the upper income bracket and the FICA taxes of the wealthy working but stop hurting the middle class and the poor. Funny how our members of congress vote to give themselves a pay raise each year yet those on Social Security get screwed over.
In view of your salary increases and your many perks, this denial of previously scheduled raises in Social Security is disgraceful and immoral.

Last year my rent increased by $25.00
In April it increased another $10.00
In August it increased $26.00. My food bills have increased on an average of $50.00 per month and because of a 16yr old kid totalling my car I am again making car payments of %73.00 per month. My Electric bill has increased. This month I had to put $141.00 vet bill on a credit card, plus another 80.00 for groceries. Gasoline is over $3.00 per gal. WE NEED AN INCREASE!
i think its crazy everything is going up and we are not getting the raises we need to set of the raises in cost of living ,not only that didnt pass giving us the $250 stimulus check for this year in which wouldve helped us a great deal i bet they all got raises and we really are the poor ones!!!
I can see why all of a sudden that now Social Security is almost broke. The stimulus package had the opposite effect and actually caused more companies to lay off their workers. Can you imagine being 62 and trying to find a new job. Most people that has happened to have decided to retire early thus putting stress on Social Security payouts way earlier than expected. If you would have made unemployment a priority a year ago we wouldn't be in this mess. And if you would have kept your hand out of the cookie jar before it was lock-boxed it probably wouldn't have been a crisis at all.
I live alone and the monthly check is all I have to live on. I still have to pay; rent,electric, insurance(medical& car),phone,and all the other bills people who work has to pay. I have to decide already if I eat or get my me3dine,so to not give us a cost of living raise will continue a painful process. Please consider the lives of us seniors as citizens of this USA.
I live on this and count on every dime that I can get to pay bills in order to live I have cystic fibrosis and I know that it needs to be rased every year so lets rase it just like every other year lets get this done and make it so they can t not lower it ever again or not make a rase every year people count on this
