I hope that the older population , people that worked hard all their lives ,paid taxes and fougt for a better future for everyone will not suffer as a consequence of new health programs.
It is time that you elected officials have the same health care that you want all of us to have, why do you think you are above the rest of us tax payers. You make all the decisions and we are supposed to live according to them. you have created all the problems and want to blame them on someone else.
It is my opinion that Citizens of the USA should all have a good and effective health care plan just like Chris Dodd describes in his recent ADVERTISEMENT. All of Congress (who are Citizens) and the Citizens shall share the same plan.
Members of Congress are not better than the citizens they represent. They are not a privileged class. Therefore they do not deserve preferential benefits.
Health care reform is way, way overdue. If it was a priority in the Truman administration, don't you think it's time we got this done? We need to catch up with the rest of the civilized world. Health care that is solely attached to employment is no longer feasible. And as for concern that health care shouldn't be run by the government, 2/3 of health care IS run by government. And run fairly efficiently. Get on with it!
Elected officials are elected BY the People to Serve the People not to be Above the People - they should be subject to the same healthcare and retirement benefits as the people they represent.
We cannot afford the cost of or the decrease in the quality and availability of health care that will result from the this liberal proposal! Reform we can afford and that doesn't reduce the quality of care or place life/death decisions with a government bureaucrat is needed.
A truly National Health Plan for all of our
country's "CITIZENS" should include the participation of every segment of our population: the govenmental, business, and private sector of the United States payng their "fair share" for the benefit of all. It is only this form of total healthcare involvement(hospitalization, long term care, doctors'fees, drugs, eyecare, dentalcare, etc.) supported by all segments of our
population that will satisfy our country's need to insure and maintain the best level of healthcare the United States can provide for every citizen.
In order to reduce the expense of health care for all, I believe that all our Government Employees, including our elected officials, should be covered in the same manner. If what is being provided for our elected representatives is better than what is to be given to the public, then their benefits should be brouht in line with whatever is included in the final plan.
Some time ago many citizens were made aware of the fact that the health care benefits of our elected representatives is far superior to the benefits of the general public. Why should the general public, who pay the salaries of the elected representatives, nopt be entitled to the great health care benefits of the elected population? I do not understand how this can be considered fair. We deserve the same if not better health care protection. People should be able to maintain the right to choice of physicians, as well as the location of their medical care.
Want to save some money on health care? How about some real tort reform and putting some caps on trial attorneys outrageous compension for frivolous lawsiuts!
