Stop the CBP Jones Act Revocations and Put America First

I am writing to express my concern about the recent Customs and Border Protection proposal to revoke long standing rulings which will negatively effect my local economy.

On January 18, 2017, the CBP put forth a proposal to revoke over 40 years of rulings related to the Jones Act and Oil and Gas operations in the U.S. The benefactors of this short sighted proposal claim it will be good for Americans when, in fact, it will only line the pockets of a few, while putting many thousands of Americans out of work.

The process CBP utilizes to push this proposal through is not the right process. It is a process designed for simple queries, not far reaching issues with significant economic, safety and environmental impacts. In fact, in 2009 when this issue was last raised, it was the opinion of the Department of Homeland Security that this should be addressed utilizing Notice and Comment Rulemaking.

I urge you to Put America First, stop this CBP proposal and demand that it moves into Notice and Comment Rulemaking so that a true analysis can be conducted.
