If a VISP retirement can help the Postal Service save money by giving incentives to those workers close to retirement, then it should be done. The replacement workers will be payed at a lower wage and the workforce reduced. This savings can serve both the Postal Service and the retiring workers in this bad econonmy. Not many will retire under the current economic conditions. Thank you.
Their eliminating craft positions and keeping management positions...really makes sense doesn't it??? Offer the CSRS employees $25,000 to leave like the other Federal agencies are offering their employees and maybe you'll get more takers. Wake up Congress and Potter!!!
Please consider other options prior to bail-out. VISP/Vera with no penalties to all employees this would open up positions for the new and lower paid employees. Look at all Headquarters, Area and District positions the higher paid positions to see if all required. These positions are not being reduced to be in line with lower level positions. These positions are not ctitical in moving the mail or helping customers. Look at UPS they started to cut of the top. To eliminate one of the higher paid positions sitting at a desk would still allow us to keep 3-4 workers in many of the understaffed offices who are actually critical in the movement of the mail and customer service.
I believe that your should offer csrs employees their money they vested into their retirement without a penalty and give us full benefits, many of us would retire. Employees with less pay and ptf's would allow your to layoff and others that get paid less to save money
Please authorize OPM to allow the maximum incentive of 25k and allow years to be added to bring many employees up to 30 yrs. If a real VERA w/ Incentives is offered, many of the top step workers would retire, leaving the lower payed employees to fill vacancys and at a lower pay grade saving the U.S.P.S. billions. This seems more logical than a 5 day delivery, or HR 22, this VISP could be in place next month, and all the legal frame work is already there, please consider this option as you review, the Post Office's situation. Thank you.
I believe that the current transition plan is deeply flawed and that is where the Postal Service needs to be "Bailed Out" from.
The Postal Service is nothing more than a "Big Business" entity and is only concerned about the bottom line for other big business entities. The Service belongs to all Americans but it is not concerned about the average citizen just the corporate machines.
The transition plan needs to be replaced with an appropriate service plan for all Americans not just the 8 - 10% who hold the majority of the wealth in our country.
why do you want to penalize csrs employees with a minimum of 26 years service. we have dedicated our working lives to the postal service and now in the dusk of our career you want to penalize us to leave. why not give us a fair offer with an incentive and no penalties?
