The dem's AND Obama have always touted a fair and equal society. They haven't been lying all this time, have they???
How's that "Hope and CHANGE" doing for ya??
I didn't, mine bough paid for out of my own pocket, but my son did and was lied too saying it was free. But, goverment changed hheir mind year later & told him he owed them. All after President Obama was in charge. Of course those in 2009 don't need to repay government.
The law needs to be revised to grandfather in us who took part in the first time homebuyer program in the beginning. Its the right thing to do and not fair to ask us to pay back which was suppose to be a credit and those a year later not asked to pay it back.
Ive paid $1000 now the past two years back in taxes on this so called credit for being a first time homebuyer.
Please revise this law and make it a credit for us all, we did our part helping the county stimulate the economy while we watched banks, auto, and others be bailed out.. do the right thing and revises this law and credit back the payments we have made
i needed the money. i knew i would have to repay it, but i really needed it. it is not cool that they changed the rule the year after but didn't retro-act the rule.
All the hassle they have put us through to even get our tax return for the 2010, and 2011 year should be enough for us not to have to repay it. We didn't even receive our refund for 2010 till June and have still not received it for 2011. It is almost May. Everytime I call I am told 4-6 weeks since January. Something needs to be done about this.
I must repay $7500, while those who purchased a year later in 2009 don't. How about splitting the middle, they pay half, 2008 buyers pay half? Ah well, it's not that it wasn't a useful 0% loan, it's just not fair that they got 'free money' in 2009!
This did not 'help' me at all...I can't even sell my house unless I repay this. There are only 3 ways out of this and 1 is DEATH!! Thank you for the tax BREAK!
Burdening the 2008 buyers with repayment is not a stimulus! How hypocritical to continue to make 2008 buyers repay when you gave MORE for FREE in 2009!
Better yet, in my situation, I bought the home under a construction loan, because it had no working plumbing, and various other serious problems, FROM the government, in an FHA forclosure. I then refinanced in 2009. They now tell me that I did not buy a house in 2008, so I have to pay back the full 7500, with 2500 in penalties, plus I no longer qualify for the 2009 credit, because I was no longer a first time buyer. So, now I have to find $10K, or they want to come take my 27" tv, and whatever else I have, clothes maybe? This was a hit and run. Thanks, United States.
I feel that the 2008 credit needs to be changed to a nonrepayment as the 2009 and 2010 credit and the payments that have been paid repaid to the tax payer. This is the moral and correct thing to do and needed to have been done right away when they came up with the 2009 credit.
On the public record web page it stated that my house was sold 01/14/2009. Shouldn't I have received the $8000 credit? If not then it is not fair that we who bought our houses in 2008 had to pay back the $7500.
I got a new job that is fairly far away from my house but I cannot sell because I will lose money on the house and I will have to pay back $6500 of the credit. I'm totally stuck! I thought buying a house was supposed to be a good investment.
I decided to buy first home in Dec 2008 because of this credit, however a couple weeks later the program changed and those buying Jan 1, 2009 forward didn't have to pay it back plus they got a bigger credit. It's been a tough year and I would have waited until 2009 or not even take this credit. I hope congress will eliminate the requirement to pay back 2008 tax credit, there's too many hard working people struggling who deserve to have this eliminated.
Like many families my income drastically decreased after 2008. Please show some consideration to families who purchased a home in 2008 and give us tax relief from this repayment.

We did our part to "stimulate the economy" the same way that everyone taking the $8,000 credit did. MAKE IT EQUAL.
