"United American Families Act"

Sign the Petition : 314 Letters and Emails Sent So Far

The Uniting American Families Act (UAFA), also known as the Permanent Partners Immigration Act (PPIA), would permit a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (LPR) to sponsor his or her same-sex partner for immigration purposes. Current immigration policy has the heartbreaking effect of tearing families apart based simply on borders. This bill permits families, including same-sex couples, to create homes together within the U.S., but continues to hold individuals who use the U.S. immigration system to high standards in order to prevent misuse. UAFA would deter fraudulent conduct by subjecting abusers to the same severe penalties for fraud that exist in current immigration law, including significant fines and prison sentences.

  3. I've been forced to live apart from my partner for almost 6 years now, and have spent much of this time outside of the country. I love my country and my partner, and sincerely hope that soon a person in our postion will not be forced to choose between the two. Please look beyond any personal or religious bias, and allow the many americans who love someone beyond our boarders to live and contribute to the country we dearly love.

    Kind Regards
    MM

  7. I've been living in South Korea for over three years because my partner and I cannot marry in the United States. Not only am I exiled from my family, I am contributing to another countries economic growth as an upper-middle-class citizen. I wish I could benefit my self, my family, and my country by coming to the United States and marrying the man I love.
