I urge Congress to remove all provisions in the health care reform bills that require insurers to reimburse for prayer or any other “health care” that is not evidence-based.This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!

Regardless of the efficacy of prayer (none), the government paying for medical care based on a religious act or belief system is a violation of church state separation. The government cannot pay for prayer or religious acts. This is pretty easy stuff here.

Until prayer can be scientifically proven to have more than a placebo effect regarding medical treatment, religious and/or spiritual activities or behaviors should not be treated in legislation as forms of health care. There is a separation of Church and State for many reasons. If prayer as an alternative to medicine wasn't a reason before, IT IS NOW.This comment has been reported to the site manager. Some people would say that it is a parent's right to hold back on medical treatment for their kid, especially if it was because of religious reasons. But don't you think the right to LIFE is a bit more important than the definition of "sin" from god? This comment has been reported to the site manager. There was a recent case in my state where a little girl died because of her parents using prayer instead of getting the medical care that could have easily prevented her death. I can't help but feel that if religion hadn't been involved, there would be no dispute over whether or not those "parents" were guilty. This comment has been reported to the site manager.
