    Cancelling Engineering Technology programs which are a corner stone of the manufacturing workforce will only hasten the demise of America's industrial base and put even more people in the unemployment line!

    Several of the BSET Degree Progams are 100 percent Online. How is it that these programs cost too much to keep going.

    I am currently a 1st Lietuent in the Army and I have a BSET in Space Science. I learned about the department of Engineering Technology cancelation upon my return from Afghanistan. As a National Guard Soldier I also have a civilian job as a design engineer at United Space Alliance. I would hate to see this program go away and not give other people the opportunity that I have had, especially since the department is not suffering from a financial loss.

    We need the Engineering programs so that we can continue to grow with technology for our childrens future. Please keep these prorams available for our future.

    These programs are vital to our future. As far as I can tell the IST program is the only one like it in all of Florida. Without this program I may not have had the opportunity to gain a B.S. In Engineering Tech at UCF alone the cost savings by the proposed cuts don't add up, as of now the program is nearly if not completely self sustaining with tuition and grants etc. If you are powerless with providing more funding at least help us by asking the question to officials at UCF why the Engineering Tech cuts with so little, if not anything to gain?

    The cancellation of the Engineering Technology program at the University of Central Florida will have a major impact on the local economy, many times greater than the proposed monetary savings suggested by UCF's management. The students enrolled in the Engineering Technology program are not the traditional on-campus students, we are professionals working in the local research and development companies surrounding central Florida. Like many of the students in the Engineering Technology program, I work full time to support my family, while taking classes on the side so that I can one day move up within my company. I have invested far too much time, effort and money into my education to have it taken away from me when I am so close to completing my degree. All of the classes that I have taken thus far have been on-line, yet I pay the full amount for tuition and books. How can this program cost the university more money than traditional classes? Prior to the proposed cancellation of this program, I fully believed the UCF "Stood for Opportunity" as displayed on the website, now I am not so sure....

    I am a graduate of the UCF BSEET program, December 2006. I have used all of my skills acquired at UCF in my position as an electrical engineer at my company in Charlotte, NC. With many of these courses available online and distance learning options, canceling this area cannot be saving the college a significant amount of money. With the Masters program on the way, more money will be procured by way of grants for research in the field of engineering. This is talent we will lose - future leaders in the sciences that will go to other colleges and not give UCF a second look. This is a tragedy to me - and my fellow engineers - and should not be allowed to happen.
