The Reinstatement of the Nursing Program at SUNY New Paltz
Sign the Petition : 4 Letters and Emails Sent So Far
The Suny New Paltz administration has not only broken faith with nursing students and nurses seeking accessible, affordable and high quality upper level/advanced education, but it has broken faith with the residents of the Mid-Hudson Valley and citizens of New York State. The executive decision that they have made to eliminate the SUNY New Paltz Nursing program comes at a time when proposed legislation, A2079 andS1074, would require a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within 10 years of inital RN licensure. It comes at a time when 40,000 eligible nursing students are annually turned away from nursing programs primarily due to lack of faculty; the very faculty that have come from these higher education programs. It comes at a time when the American population age 65 and older will double between the years 2000-2030,thus requiring more access to our health care systems and the shortage of nurses is estimated to reach 800,000 by the year 2020. Please show your support by signing this petition to inform SUNY New Paltz Administration that they should rescind their decision to elimiante the Nursing Programs. | |

Penny Wise and pound foolish! ZThis program is one of the most affordable nursing programs around! Please reinstate it - more nurses + true health care reform and decreased costs state wide!

As an Alum of the Nursing BS and MS program at New Paltz - I would not have been able to do it if not for the location and affordability. This program is vital for the nurses of the Hudson Valley.

I am an alumni of the Nursing Graduate program and this decision to close the Nursing Program is devastating. In the midst of a serious nursing and faculty shortage, this decision will have long lasting affects for the future of our country's healthcare.

The Health care profession is one of the most needed professions. As the population lives longer, you find that more and more health care professionals are needed in the hospitals, visiting nurses, home care, assisted living facilities, etc. I would therefore like to go on record that you please reconsider your decision regarding eliminating the Nursing program. Thanks.

As a student at Dutchess Community College doing my prerequisites for the nursing program, I'm dismayed to hear that SUNY New Paltz won't have an affordable BSN or MSN program avaiable when I have my ADN.
