I think worse case scenario should be you need a permit to own certain species of python. Not ban them. The economy is bad enough as it is, and things like this will just make it worse. If this passes I fear other pets will soon follow. There are serious matters to worry about, and they focus on snakes. This is ridiculous!!!!

Stop The ban. The banning of such species is un just and not right. Dogs and cats attack people more then snakes. Personally I am the victim of a dog attack, it ripped my leg open. But guess what Ive never been the victim of a snake. what gives? Stop this nonsense.

There are significantly more attack incidents with dogs and cats than all reptiles combined. As always, ignorant people want to ban what they don't understand. Let's ban cars while we're at it, since people get in car accidents. Let's also ban water because people can drown in it. Bans don't work. Ever.
Examples include:
Banning guns in Australia: http://www.geoffmetcalf.com/aus.html
Prohibition - 18th Amendment:
http://www.drugtext.org/library/reports/wick/wick1.html
Licensing is one thing- proving that one is responsible and capable of owning potentially dangerous animals of ANY species. However, simply banning ownership of many incredibly harmless animals is asinine and is the epitome of ignorance.

Do NOT pass this bill into law. It would be a devastating blow not only to us reptile owners, but to large market shippers such as Fed Ex and UPS. We reptile and snake owners should have the legal right to own, breed, and hips our reptiles to other responsible owners as well. Large constrictors have killed far fewer people in the last 20 years, than dogs, horses, bees, bears, sharks, Etc. I could go on and on. Vote no to this bill!

My husband and I are both military. If these bans pass then the government that we are suppose to love and fight and potentially die for is telling us that we can not keep our beloved animals with us if we get transferred to another base. I have a LOT of military friends who own snakes and love them like some love their cats, dogs and even children. Please do not allow these bills to pass. You will only be hurting the people who love and fight/fought for this country, as well as taking more jobs away from the breeders and shop employees who work with these animals. Personally, if this passes, I will leave the military.

The more I know people, the more I love my snakes. They are not nearly as "injurious" as feral cats or dogs. They are not nearly as deadly as horses. VOTE NO!

I am a science educator who regularly shows live Pythons and Boas to students and scouts, library patrons and festival attendees. This ban would negatively affect the way I make my living. Feel free to visit my website and see the way I make my living, and what would be taken away if this bill passes. What country do you serve ? Aren't or should I say weren't we about freedoms rather than restrictions ?
Quite honestly, how can this be regulated ? Who will take my snakes from me ? Who will make people comply ? You probably won't see many people doing so, especially with their pets that they care for and enjoy having !
What about Zoos, Nature Centers, Science Centers, us wildlife educators who teach children about them, hands on in schools ?
The negative aspects of this bill greatly outweigh the positive! Please be open minded and look at all sides.
Thanks for your time, Dan Briere

Reptiles might not be for everyone but they can be just as rewarding as a dog or cat. I know of one rescue that uses large animals to help treat persons with mental disabilities. Due to the large and easy going nature of most large snakes and lizards it is easier for them to handle while giving them wonderful sensations. This is just one of the many reasons to continue to allow pythons and boa constrictors. Please stop this ban of these wonderful animals. Dogs have killed and injured more peoplle then snakes or lizards have. Thank You

Be reasonable and don't listen to extremists of either side. Dogs are by far the most dangerous animal that people have as pets.

This is junk 'science' passed on by special interest groups with the agenda of banning all private care of so-called exotic animals. Next they will go after institutional and public care of exotics, and then the banning of all animal-human interaction.
There is no evidence that pythons can or have ever established any feral populations in any state in the United States besides Florida.
Legislation such as this ultimately hurts the animals without in any way fixing the ultimate problem, habitat destruction.
I strongly oppose this transparent effort.

Common sense should tell you that to ban reptile pets is 1.going against personal freedom, and 2. lacking common sense. Not only will these pets be left to the wild, they could possibly be hurt and/or damaged. Make breeders get licenses, set up reptile rescues, do not take away our rights to own reptiles.
Dogs and cats are far more destructive than a reptile will ever be.

I am a responsible pet owner and I dont think my pets should be taken away just because people are afraid of my snakes. Im sure dogs cause more injuries a year than pythons. 99% of us are responsible owners and we put alot of money into our economy.

I have been a responsible pet owner of reptiles, dogs and cats for almost 58 years and really resent this intrusion into my private life. I have NEVER released any pet into the wild, never let my dogs run off leash and do not feel it is right that I be punished for the few irresponsible pet owners that exsist. To say that all exotic pet owners are not responsible pet owners, is like saying that all people of a certain nationality or creed are theives or murders. One statement is as stupid as the other.

This is an outrage and many exotic pets will die, become homeless, and have been in america for hundreds of years. Please allow the buying, selling, and breeding of exotic animals. Many pet shops also and no-kill shelters will be affected who have tried to help find homes for these defenseless animals. This is wrong.
