   I really don think this ban is fair, I am all for banning the new capturing of wild life,that whole practice is inhumane. But our little hamsters and gerbils? they have been here breeding their little hearts out for decades, they have earned their place in our hearts, and are now thoroughly American!

    This is supposed to be America land of the free, yet you are controlling smoking, guns, and now we are going to our pets what will be next?? This should be a choice for those of us who want to own " non-native" pets as you all are calling them. As long as we take the proper care of these animals, and all people get over there fears. People think all snakes are bad because of the one incident with the small child. Now all snakes have a bad rep. this is not fair and all snakes are not the same, and should not be treated as outcast because one set of parents did not supervise their child nor did they take the proper care of their snake. If we have to get rid of our animals why should the zoo's be able to keep there's? This is a law that is trying to be passed based on people not being properly informed on the different kind of animals that are out there. If they were not meant to be here there would have never been two of each animal put on the ark. People just need to be informed about animals instead of trying to take another of our rights away. If this bill is passed than you will be thinking of what you can ban next. This should be our choice, not the House of Representatives.

    My daughter is bi-polar and her therapy is her rats, along with her medications. If she didnt have her rats, she would be lost and very confused and upset. What are you thinking ? To take away those rats, would put her in a deep depression.

    i don't understand why people just can't leave well enough alone. its amazing growing up that this stuff just was'nt around and for the most part we all survived and made it. if we saw someone treating an animal badly all it took was a good chat with them to change things around, now it takes an act of congress and a bunch of overpaid,above the law, egotistical suits to try and do something about it that ultimately goes the wrong way further. god,if you are listening, help us all.

    Many species, not necessarily native, are kept from extinction only by caring, conscientious breeders.What about them?Man has already destroyed the habitats of many wonderful species.Are we going to let even more die out?

    Does that mean they will also ban certain breeds of dogs and cats as they are also 'exotic' if you compare them to some of the animals in question. I mean come on 90% of common household pet breeds did not originate in the states and as such could be termed exotic.

    The majority of pets in my family's household are exotics. Some having been there for many years and living happily. What gives the government the right to take away non-endangered exotic species as companion animals? This economy is bad enough without the government cutting out a major part of the pet trade. That would leave more taxpaying Americans out of work and lead us further into depression. I support monitoring the pet trade for endangered species and proposing permits for poisonous or venomous creatures, but peaceful exotics like tropical fish, reptiles, birds, and small mammals deserve to stay in the loving homes they have already and allow their keepers to continue owning such beautiful animals.

    This is not right. it will cause animals to suffer due to people will then get them through the black market which we all know is not good for the animals sake. also what will big companies and small business do if that is what they make their money off of. its not right and this will only hurt our economy even more than it already is.

     as long as we can afford to feed our pets then the government should have no right to say anything on it at all should be grateful that the pets are being taken care of so good but ones who can't take care of their pets should be told about taken care of their pets and everything else if they can afford their beer,drugs then they should take as good care of their pets as they do any thing else

     It seems this country would have more things to concentrate on rather than taking peoples pets away from them. Most peoples animals are members of their families and no one would want any one to be able to come into their homes and remove a member of their family.
