Remove Marijuana from its Current Schedule 1 Status

Common sense dictates that Marijuana has medicinal benefits.

"Schedule I drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse. Schedule I drugs are the most dangerous drugs of all the drug schedules with potentially severe psychological or physical dependence. Some examples of Schedule I drugs are:

heroin, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), marijuana (cannabis), 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy), methaqualone, and peyote"

Marijuana has been in this category since the Nixon administration. And it's doomed to stay there because of a Catch 22: It's a Schedule 1 because it (supposedly) has no medical benefits. Researchers can't prove it does because it's a Schedule 1.

End the madness.

Congress- you have the power. I am disabled due to PTSD and marijuana would benefit me. There are thousands, if not millions of cancer sufferers, people with seizures, people in pain who could benefit from marijuana. Help these people, they are suffering because of government bureaucracy and it's just plain wrong.
