Im on methadone 3 years now. Best thing that's happened to me. Changed my like completely. If u use methadone while using other drugs, yeah u could die. Only on methadone, there's no way on your normal daily dose.
Prescribing methadone is like prescribing a life sentence, highly addictive and life threatening if taken in high doses or with other medications. Please put stricter regulations in place for this medication, you are killing our young people.
Action is needed now. These drugs are too readily available through Doctors over perscibing, via internet, and of course on the streets. They are killing our inocent children.
Please pass this bill!! As a provider in psychiatry it is absolutely frightening to me that in our state (Maine), that methadone clinics are not mandated to report to the PMP website would alert me that someone is on this drug. Unfortuneately, there are medications I could prescribe that could potentially harm someone with concurrent methadone treatment. And for the 1st time ever, the number of accidental overdoses has outnumbered the number of MVA in Maine in 2009, most of it r/t methadone either diverted or with concurrent use of other substances You are so right, better federal oversight needs to occur to protect the people we care for!!!
My daughter is serving a prison term due to the use of methadone that lead to criminal behavior. She lives in Las Vegas and also experienced walking into a clinic being allowed to purchase methadone – even with several failed drug tests the clinic provided the drug. This drug is killing our teens and young adults.
Methadone contributed to my younger brother's death. It's scary on how accessible it is to anyone. All he did was walk into a clinic, tell them he was addicted to opiods, and they give it to him. The more he goes in, the higher a dosage he can get. I can't believe this is allowed in our society.

This drug and all opioids need to be taken off the market. In todays day more people are more than likely addicted to prescription drugs than street drugs. This Methadone being used as a addiction treatment drug is a disgrace. It is used solely as a way to keep people addicted to opioids. I have a relative that has been on this drug for 8 years - how is that rehab??? Of course I suppose that is why we have a war in Afghanistan - to protect the opium...
These clinics need to be shut down!! My best friend has to live without her son because these clinics have "take home"....for addicts!!! Evan was my daughters friend, a great brother and son. His family had their lives torn apart because of a woman who was getting take home methadone decided to feed it to our children. My child survived, but will be forever tainted by this horrific experience. There should never be a take home....they should have people working on the wknds. Taking this drug home has given some people who abuse the drug the ability to bring it on the streets. Evan lost his future all due to GREED!!! of our Goverment. Shame on you!! what if that was your child? Please, stop the take home, there is no reason for it except...laziness!!
In memory of my precious son Brandon Dale Nally who died of a Methadone overdose at 19 years old. These kids have far too easy access to all prescription medicines and the pills kill!
I lost my 21 year old son to this drug. We need to get the people supplying these kids with their drugs and severly punish them. Too many people are hurting from these losses. IT NEEDS TO STOP!!!!!
"Take Home"....this take home was the reason a young boy lost his life and my daughter was given methadone from a person who was given the "Take Home"! This take home should be shut down, why are we letting addicts take drugs out onto the street who are selling it on the streets.
