EQUAL RIGHTS CHILD SUPPORT FOR MEN-UNWED/NO CONSENT BIRTH

?if women?s partial responsibility for pregnancy does not obligate them to support a fetus, then men?s partial responsibility for pregnancy does not obligate them to support a resulting child.?

?If women?s partial responsibility for pregnancy does not obligate them to support a fetus, then men?s partial responsibility for pregnancy does not obligate them to support a resulting child.? At most, men should be responsible for helping with the medical expenses and other costs of a pregnancy for which they are partly responsible.?-Elizabeth Brake

Moreover, the asymmetrical options that men and women now have when dealing with an unplanned pregnancy set up power imbalances that are hugely unfair to men. ?However, just as court-ordered child support does not make sense when a woman goes to a sperm bank and obtains sperm from a donor who has not agreed to father the resulting child, it does not make sense when a woman is impregnated (accidentally or possibly by her choice) from sex with a partner who has not agreed to father a child with her. In consenting to sex, neither a man nor a woman gives consent to become a parent, just as in consenting to any activity, one does not consent to yield to all the accidental outcomes that might flow from that activity.? -Elizabeth Brake

I feel that our current child support laws are extremely unfair, and violate basic equal birth rights, especially for those who were unwed, and had a child accidentally. If a woman has the option to keep the child, abort the child, or completely relinquish all financial responsibility even after birth by giving the child up for adoption, the man should equally have the option to relinquish his. If that child is 50% the males, and 50 % the females, why is it that the female gets 90% of the choices? I respect the females choice while it's in her body, but once the child is out, equal choice should fall on the man's side as well. Where are the equal rights?

I ask that you not force men to pay child support for a child resulting from an unwed and non-consent birth situation, and reform current reproductive birth laws to reflect the fairness and equality that this country was built on and continually strives to give all of its citizens.
