My 29 yr. old son, Steven, died 8/09 from an accidental OD of his pain med, Oxecodone, the doctor prescribed for back pain. My heart is broken. He was my only son. Please put a stop to the indiscriminent prescribing of these type pain meds.
My son, Trent Pickens, age 34 died from taking methadone prescribed for pain. He did not have insurance and this was the cheapest drug he could obtain for pain. Methadone's half-life has killed many, many people.
Please also add "dependance" too to all your language where you use "addiction.". In addition to lives lost to addiction thousands of other "living dead" severely suffer from dependance & many from "accidental addiction" from prescribed meds & common MD practice of off use prescribing. Make sure to read about "benzo dependance" & "protracted benzo withdrawal" & also check out videos on YouTube from "Gwen" a former pharma rep as well as wikipedia "Heather Ashton." The American medical (MD) community, psych community & Big Pharma are ALL complicit in their lack of the lives ruined from the flip & bad side of their withou hesitation pushing of drugs.

Hi, my name is Angela Rommel. I am the creator of this foundations little cousin. I, too, HAD an addiction to a prescription drug. My cousin called me a million times a day everyday after she found out everything, I had gotten really sick from withdrawls and was majorly dehydrated and had no way to get any more pills. So I had to confess to my family in the beginning of March what had been going on for about 18 months, off and on. Crystal was the most supportive, and understanding! I now, have been clean for several weeks, I'm involved w/ a Treatment Center here in my hometown of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. But she texted me over the weekend, and told me to check out this webpage, so I did, and I think that its an awesome plan! Like I said I go to my treatment center here in town, and theres so many people that are addicted to prescription drugs, its unbelievable, and thats just in my town, all different kinds of prescription drugs, some are prescribed to the individual and some aren't, but I feel a PMP in place would definitely help this growing problem!
